The spiral staircase leading to the rooms is a challenge, especially when lugging suitcases. the steepness may not work for everyone. The breakfast itself varied from inadequate cooked options, with stark portion sizes not living up to expectations, to disappointingly rigid vegetarian choices requiring advance notice. Lastly, the Velux window in the room has no proper shading unless you want to climb onto the bed, which can be an awkward situation for older guests. these little quirks might be a hassle for some but can be managed with planning.

From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by the lovely hosts, who not only helped us with our bags but also provided us with fantastic recommendations for local outings, making our stay truly memorable. The guesthouse is perfectly situated for leisurely walks to beautiful spots like Borrans Park, which is just a short stroll away.

Pillows could be improved!!! Consider providing more storage space for luggage!!! A lift would make it easier with heavy bags!!!

My time at Waterwheel Guesthouse was a culinary delight! From the homemade flapjacks left on my door to the delightful veggie breakfast that set us up for the day—everything was top-notch. Plus, chatting with Debbie and Paul was like having a friendly guide to Ambleside! You can't miss local gems like Doi Intanon Thai or The Bridge Restaurant for a cheeky meal.
The only downside? They're fully booked for future stays, so if you spot availability, snatch it up while you can! Oh, and the spiral staircase could be a bit tricky.

The Waterwheel was a lovely place to unwind, with beautiful decor and thoughtful touches like homemade flapjacks and a decanter of port. The breakfast was delicious, though at times it felt a bit too crowded for comfort. Paul and James made our time special with their warmth and knowledge.
